hand in hand like a boy and a girl

pausing only to eat wild berries out of a dish

painted with pictures of birds.

 

낮과 밤이 온다

새들이 그려진 접시에서

산딸기를 먹으려고나 잠시 멈추는

소년과 소녀처럼 손에 손을 잡고.

 

-- 이 시집 맨 앞에 실린 시 "시 Poem" 의 첫 연.

 

(영문 자체는 쉽고 분명한데, 번역은 쉽지 않아서 대강 했다.

영시는 원문으로 읽는 게 좋은 또 하나 좋은 본보기다.)
