Éric Vuillard, "The Order of the Day" (French 원본 2017; Mark Polizzotti 영역본 2018)
The New York Review of Books 서평
Éric Vuillard는 132페이지밖에 안 되는, 그것도 비소설에 가까운, 이 작품으로 2017 Goncourt 상을 받았다. 위 서평에 따르면, 보통 이 상은 소설에 주어졌다고 한다.
"The Order of the Day presents in minute detail two seemingly separate events in the early history of Nazi Germany. The first is a private meeting of twenty-four German industrialists and bankers with Hitler on February 20, 1933, just three weeks after the Nazi leader had become chancellor of Germany.... The second event, more complex and recounted at much greater length, is Hitler’s occupation of Austria in early 1938."

"The Mafioso aspect of the whole business is plain to see. Barely twenty mimutes after the above scene, Seyss-Inquart calls. Goering orders him to go back and make Miklas understand that if he does not name Seyss-Inquart chancellor before seven-thirty, German troops will march and Austria will cease to exist." (p. 101)
"Political maneuverung tramples facts. And the declarations of our leaders will soon be blown away like tin roofs in a hurricane." (p. 116)
"From their pulpits, priests called upon the faithful to vote Nazi, and the churches bedecked themselves in swastica banners." (p. 117)
