이 소설을 읽고 나니 전에 쓴 짧은 글 "진화론"이 생각난다. (별거 아닌, 순간적인 생각을 무슨 '자유게시판'에 올렸던 아주 짧은 글인데, 제목을 붙여서 그렇게 올린 그 때문에 22년이 지나서도 떠올리게 되는구나.)

 

사실. 끔찍한 일들이 연속되는 이 소설을 갖고 있고 싶지도 않아 오늘 도서관에 기증했다. 그리고는 마침 거기서 눈에 띈 한 시집에서 Wisława Szymborska의 시 "A Word on Statistics"를 읽는데 곧장 이 소설이 생각났다.
